– Keep all the chemical products out of reach of children.

1.Turbid water

Is your pool water milky with an unpleasant odour?

Possible cause – too many organic pollutants and an insufficient amount of disinfectant in the water.

Solution

  • Use a brush to clean the pollutants manually from the floor and walls of the pool and vacuum off with a mechanical or electric vacuum cleaner.
  • Backwash or simply wash the filter.
  • Check and, if necessary, adjust the pH to 7.0-7.4.
  • Carry out a pool shock treatment with Chlorifix or Chloriklar.
  • Place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer in order to eliminate water turbidity.
  • If necessary, change the contents of the filter (sand or AFG activated filter glass).

Mentioned products: Chlorifix, Chloriklar, Superflock Plus. We sell all the mentioned products

2.Rough pool walls

Is your pool water turbid and the pool walls rough?

Possible cause – limescale in the pool water and on the pool walls.

Solution

  • Use a brush to clean the limescale deposits manually from the floor and walls of the pool, and vacuum off with a mechanical or electric vacuum cleaner.
  • If limescale deposits cannot be removed manually, you will have to drain the pool and clean the walls and floor with Decalcit Super.
  • To prevent further limescale, add Calcinex into the pool water immediately after refilling.
  • Ensure that the pH level is between 7.0 and 7.4 at all times.

Mentioned products: Decalcit Super, Calcinex. We sell all the mentioned products.

3. Algae growth

Is your pool water green and pool walls and floor slippery?

Possible cause – algae in the pool

Solution

  • Use a brush to remove algae manually from the floor and walls of the pool, and vacuum off with a mechanical or electric vacuum cleaner.
  • Backwash or simply wash the filter.
  • Check and, if necessary, adjust the pH to 7.0-7.4.
  • Carry out a pool shock treatment with chlorine, by using Chlorifix or Chloriklar.
  • Carry out an anti-algae treatment by dosing Desalgine or Desalgine Jet into the pool.
  • Leave the pump running for 24 hours and until the pool water is clear again.
  • Place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer in order to prevent water turbidity.

Mentioned products (Chlorifix, Chloriklar, Desalgine, Desalgine Jet, Superflock Plus) We sell all the mentioned products.

4. Green/brown water

Is your pool water clear, but turns green or brown after adding chlorine or active oxygen?

Possible cause – iron ions are present in the pool water, or corrosion occurred due to a low pH level.

Solution

  • Check and, if necessary, adjust the pH to 7.0-7.4.
  • Place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer in order to remove iron.
  • Leave the pump running for 24 hours and until the pool water is clear again.
  • If the water is still not perfectly clear after backwashing, insert another Superflock Plus cartridge into the skimmer and repeat the procedure.

Mentioned product: Superflock Plus. We sell the mentioned product.

5. Blue metallic water

Does your pool water have a metallic shimmer and have there been cases of hair turning green?

Possible cause – copper is present in the water due to corrosion, or you are using algaecides containing copper sulphate.

Solution

  • Temporarily increase the pH level up to 7.5 and 7.8
  • Place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer in order to remove the copper ions.
  • Leave the pump running for 24 hours and until the pool water loses its blue metallic shimmer.
  • If the water is still not perfectly clear after backwashing, insert another Superflock Plus cartridge into the skimmer and repeat the procedure.
  • Reduce the pH level to 7.0 and 7.4.
  • Always use a non-copper based algaecide such as Desalgine or Desalgine Jet.

Mentioned products: Superflock plus, Desalgine, Desalgine Jet. We sell all the mentioned products

6. Chlorine odour and eye irritation

Is the pool water giving off a strong chlorine odour, and were there cases of stinging eyes after using the pool?

Possible cause – high amount of organic impurities (so called chloramines) in the pool water, due to an insufficient amount of chlorine in the water, and therefore an insufficient water disinfection.

Solution

  • Check and, if necessary, adjust the pH to 7.0-7.4.
  • Carry out a pool shock treatment with chlorine, by using Chlorifix or Chloriklar.
  • Increase the amount of fresh water by prolonging the backwash time.
  • Clean and disinfect the filter, for instance by using Filterclean Tab.
  • Place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer in order to remove iron.
  • Ensure continuous water disinfection without interruption at all times.

Mentioned products: Chlorifix, Chloriklar, Filterclean Tab, Superflock Plus. We sell all the mentioned products, except Filterclean Tab.
